'A ray of light: This Alberta city is the sunniest place in all of Canada' - Curiocity Calgary

On January 10, 2024, Curiocity Calgary published an article that recognized Medicine Hat as the Sunniest City in Canada. It then mentioned Medicine Hat being one of the most affordable places to live in Alberta.

In the article it states, "According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the city is actually “the sunniest place” in the country averaging 2,544 hours of natural light every year."

People will often find the phrase Canada's Sunniest City when reading about Medicine Hat, because it is a quality of the area many embrace year-round.

With a 155-kilometre trail system, residents and visitors often find themselves outdoors every month of the year.

Mountain biking trails and golf courses open as early as March, and stay open until as late as October.

The popular downtown food and beverage spot, LOCAL Public Eatery, even opened its patio for one day on January 31, 2024.

Curiocity Calgary's article does remind people, "Don’t forget to wear something with an SPF, though and bundle up! While it’s the Canada’s sunniest city, it does get pretty chilly in the winter."

Curiocity Calgary also published an article on December 1, 2023 that listed Medicine Hat at number two on the, 'top 10 cheapest places to live in Alberta with the best quality of life' list.

"In a new report by Moving Waldo, some of the most affordable places to live in Wild Rose Country were determined based on their quality of life, access to essential facilities nearby, and available houses," stated Curiocity Calgary.
